Time to cue the old Movietone news soundtrack — On this day!

Hard to believe it was 12 months ago the last round of GPS Rugby season 2020 was finally played

Scots played Newington on a balmy Spring afternoon and finished victorious to conclude what turned out to be a very trying year

Whilst we are already on school holidays, last yea

Whilst we are already on school holidays, last year school was still open for business

On the corresponding weekend to the one just gone by, Scots played Riverview in a full round of GPS sport — I photographed eight matches ranging from U13’s through to the 1st XV meaning that, a lack of spectators notwithstanding, it was as normal a weekend as we have had in a long time

I have posted a few images from the 1st XV game here but you will also find some additional frames on today’s IG story

Another term is done — the first to be completel

Another term is done — the first to be completely hammered by COVID restrictions which caused no competitive sport of any kind to be played at all

But, as the books are being packed away for a couple of weeks, things do appear to now be looking up and providing us with some hope that, in Term 4, we might actually get to see some boots on the ground once more

Got me thinking

Hard to believe this time last year we were still

Hard to believe this time last year we were still in the midst of playing a winter sport season which had continued for almost two terms

No spectators allowed and the boys had to leave school immediately on the conclusion of their games

Didn’t stop the participants from giving it a red hot crack though!

A stunning weekend led us to believe the very long winter that has been 2021 may at last be behind us

Unfortunately it proved to be a false dawn with the next few days expected to be dull, dreary, wet, and chilly

But not nearly as bad as it was in July last year when, not only were we depressed as we remained in lockdown, but so, too, was the weather system

It is Monday so therefore…!

And for those of you who informed me after Wednesd

More encouraging lockdown news from Sydney today which, hopefully, augurs well for school sport this side of Christmas

And that is something, I suspect, which might lead to a few more smiles on Game Day faces than has been the case in recent times
