On our last visit to London we based ourselves in Notting Hill, an area which, despite being only a couple of tube stops from where I lived for five years, I had never really explored. More fool me but what a find! Everything a tourist needs is within walking distance — museums, parks, pubs, cafes, transport, whatever piques your interest. And when not in London we stayed in Twickenham — think walking along the Thames, Richmond and Bushy Parks, great riverside pubs and, of course, rugby! Given even half a chance I could easily slip back into that way of life
