As a boy growing up the only references to Dolomite were in geology classes or on TV ads for a now defunct auto company — then we discovered this place. Please do not tell anyone as I don’t want the word to get out — the Dolomites are absolutely wonderful. The mountains can only be described as epic, the snow is prolific, the skiing brilliant, the food and drink is top notch. We have now been on three occasions and will be heading back for as long as we are able to survive the long haul flight — and whether we are capable of skiing or not. This area has to be on your travel “To Do” list even if you aren’t into snow sports
