As I foreshadowed in my last post we are currently

As I foreshadowed in my last post we are currently in the middle of a long weekend with tomorrow being a public holiday — and that means there was no sport yesterday. Additionally, the school term finishes next Friday and (from a sport perspective) normal transmission will not resume until around the middle of July

One of the problems with my feed is that I alternate my posts between portrait and landscape format images; I also post multiple images to each post. What that means is there are many images that do not get the opportunity to see the light of day before the next match rolls around — or might be tucked into a post in a position that not everyone has the patience to scroll to

So what I thought I might do whilst we have no fresh images to show off — and at the risk of you getting to see some images for a second time — is roll out some of those photos from the past term that deserve to be given an airing or a better opportunity to be appreciated

That will, of necessity, mean the feed might appear to be a little disjointed but at least something is better than nothing!

We have a long weekend in Australia and so, with that, goes any chance of spending tomorrow on the sidelines — and to rub it in, next week sees the end of the school term and, therefore, school sport

As always I have plenty of images from the last 10 weeks collecting dust in the gloominess of my archive files to ensure that I will still be able to post regularly across the break

And who knows, there may even be something pop up along the way to keep my camera and I from getting rusty. So if anyone needs a photographer...

Whilst it may seem that I spent last Saturday running around rugby pitches my day actually started out photographing the Cranbrook cross country relays

Traditionally there are two relay events on the cross country calendar each year — King’s and Trinity host those — so this event, for me at least, was something different

Fortunately the weather was much better than what had been predicted only the night before — which meant conditions for competitors, spectators and photographers alike were more enjoyable than what they might have been

Scots has had a large — and very successful — program for Indigenous students since 2006 with the Indigenous round of the winter sports season now an annual event — and an important day in the school sports’ calendar

And, no, there wasn’t a new version of the King’s rugby jersey on display over the weekend

Whilst almost all matches were between Scots and King’s, the 3rd XV’s game saw Scots clash with Riverview (whose sweater is also a blue and white hooped design - but it is they who sport the darker blue you will see on one image today)

So with that explanation out of the way…

It seemed to be a long time coming but the GPS Premiership season finally kicked off this weekend — and, as you would have expected, the pressure went up by a couple of notches too

All matches were crackers. The Scots vs King’s 1st XV match, however, took the cake with the result being in doubt until the final whistle with Scots walking away with the points thanks to a try saving tackle at the death

With the next Premiership match not being played until mid-July, the boys now have plenty of time to prepare their bodies for the next onslaught whilst the Coaches are provided an opportunity to further fine tune their game plans
