Finished ploughing through the images resulting fr Finished ploughing through the images resulting from the Raschke Cup and Yeend Shield Games earlier today

As I have indicated, given there were four matches played I have produced a few (many!) more than normal. I am unsure as to whether that will impact the speed with which the Sports Department can get them onto Schoolbox but keep your eyes peeled as they can’t be far away

In the meantime a few more from the weekend to whet your appetites
With twice as many images as normal to work throug With twice as many images as normal to work through — along with a few other matters that got in my way — I haven’t been able to make as much headway as I’d hoped

Having said that, a bit of midnight oil burning this evening should get things back on track such that at some point tomorrow all images will be available for Schoolbox

In the meantime a few from Saturday’s 2nds match which went into overtime before Riverview eventually prevailed
It was a very busy day of basketball with the seco It was a very busy day of basketball with the second leg of qualifiers for — and finals of — both the Raschke Cup (1sts) and Yeend Shield (2nds)

Congratulations to each of Newington 1sts and Shore 2nds on their victories

The two Scots teams ended up playing off in the 3rd v 4th matches and came away victorious in both

And more good news was that a couple of the long term injured made successful comebacks and seemed to get through the day unscathed

Newington at Scots next week
For the third time in four weeks we head across th For the third time in four weeks we head across the Bridge to Shore — and on this occasion for the second leg of both the Raschke Cup and Yeend Shield competitions

What that means is that there will be four games to be photographed across the day — so a bit more work to be done than usual but, given the way the weather is (once again) shaping, it might just be the only sport to get off the ground this weekend

And, just like after the first leg, it also ensures there should be a good bunch of photographs to post on these pages next week
Normal transmission is resumed All images from la Normal transmission is resumed

All images from last weekend’s basketball and cricket against Sydney Grammar can now be found on the website at peterwade.photography/recent-shoots

And in another sign of things becoming a little more normal today also marks the return of an old friend — twice!
A frustrating day with the internet down making it A frustrating day with the internet down making it impossible to get most of last weekend’s images onto the peterwade.photography website; I will provide a status report as soon as I am able

I did manage to upload the cricket images (they can be found on the “Recent Shoots” page as normal) and, as you can see, pull a few from my drive and get them onto Instagram but...

To make up for all that, as a bonus, I have included a couple of additional photos in today’s IG story

Hopefully normal transmission resumes tomorrow
Back to basketball today with some images from las Back to basketball today with some images from last Saturday’s Scots v Grammar 2nds

A tremendous match with Scots, seemingly down for the count at the long break, able to turn things around to eventually win by nine points

All images from the weekend are now on Schoolbox and I am hopeful of having them on the peterwade.photography website by lunch tomorrow
As foreshadowed, some cricket images from Saturday As foreshadowed, some cricket images from Saturday’s win over Sydney Grammar

Despite the rain the match eventually went ahead — albeit reduced to 25 overs per side — in conditions more akin to playing in Melbourne in October rather than Sydney in February (and, before anyone has a go at me, as a cricket loving Melbournian I know first hand what early season conditions there can be like!)

Fewer overs often bring about some hard hitting, fast scoring cricket — and that is exactly what happened on this occasion. Good fun to watch — even if I was wearing a sweater and rain jacket!
I said there would be two certainties with respect I said there would be two certainties with respect to yesterday’s sport; got that one a touch wrong

Yes, there was quite a bit of rain but also plenty of basketball given it is of the indoor sport variety

Strangely enough, though, the rain didn’t impact on the cricket — the game being reduced to a 25 over match but at least we had some action nonetheless.
Where I did miscalculate was that, if it did rain, I hadn’t expected tennis to be cancelled whilst the cricket went ahead — but that was what happened!

But the “upside” of there being no tennis was I didn’t have as many images to work my way through. Having said that, I still spent most of today ploughing through what I captured — and in the order in which they were photographed — meaning I have a few basketball photos ready to post

Hopefully, some cricket images will hit the airwaves around the same time tomorrow
