It’s almost time to wrap things up for season 20 It’s almost time to wrap things up for season 20/21 but not before we get to do it one more time when Scots take on Joey’s this Saturday in the Lion’s Den

And for some it will be the last time they run onto the court that has been their second home for what, to them, probably seems like forever

A sad day but whilst it marks the end of this chapter it also signals the beginning of what it is that comes next
A few more from the weekend’s matches vs Newingt A few more from the weekend’s matches vs Newington

If you are keen to see all images from those games they are now up on the website and can be found at https://peterwade.photography/recent-shoots/
The countdown has begun to the last match of the s The countdown has begun to the last match of the season — and, for some, that means it may be the last time they will wear their school’s basketball uniform

Fortunately they will have many memories of good times past

And, for good measure, a few of those might be from last weekend’s matches vs Newington
After a very tight first half no one could have fo After a very tight first half no one could have foreseen a third period blow out — but that is exactly what happened

Scots 2nds turned on the after burners and, as they say in the classics, that was that

Newington fought hard until the end but just couldn’t make up the lost ground

Not sure what was in the Scots drink bottles at half time but it certainly did the trick!
And all that remains is for just one game to be pl And all that remains is for just one game to be played and, if this weekend’s matches are anything to go by, it will be a cracker

Both Newington matches were tough, hard fought and not decided until the last quarter of the game — and, somewhat fittingly, with honours shared between the two schools; Scots taking out the 2nds, Newington winning the 1sts

With the way the games were played scoring wasn’t easy — both schools were forced to work hard for every point. A day that was characterised by heavy defence and lots of pressure
A little like Christmas where you seem to wait for A little like Christmas where you seem to wait forever — and then, just like that…Poof! Christmas is gone

Hard to believe but tomorrow is the second to last match of the 2020/21 basketball season — sad, isn’t it?

But on the positive side, it is the first match of the term we will be playing on our own patch — Scots vs Newington in the Lions Den — with the 2nds at 10.00 and the 1sts at 11.30
I have previously mentioned how fortunate I am to I have previously mentioned how fortunate I am to sit so close to the action and watch the boys perform each week

Admittedly my playing days are long gone (and, therefore, I do say this with just a touch of jealousy!) but I cannot believe how talented, skilled, and physically fit they all are

When I was their age those who played basketball did so because they couldn’t get a game in a “mainstream” sport like Australian Rules, rugby or hockey (it was a winter sport then, too)

Is it any wonder other codes are now clamouring for basketballers to add to their own playing rosters?

Finished ploughing through the images resulting fr Finished ploughing through the images resulting from the Raschke Cup and Yeend Shield Games earlier today

As I have indicated, given there were four matches played I have produced a few (many!) more than normal. I am unsure as to whether that will impact the speed with which the Sports Department can get them onto Schoolbox but keep your eyes peeled as they can’t be far away

In the meantime a few more from the weekend to whet your appetites
